STREAM TREEHOUSE,
Swanton Novers, Norfolk
Commissioned as one of two Treehouses for the Astley Estate in Norfolk, Stream takes its inspiration form the bigger picture of its surrounding woodland, interpreting the organic canopy of the trees in the undulating form of its roof and the transparency of its form below.
Curved timber clad walls follow the circular plans of the kitchen, shower room and entrance lobby spaces inside
The sculptural steel spiral staircase is finely detailed and sweeps up to the entrance- the stair and balcony balustrades are meticulously crafted with angled details, following the organic forms of the woodland.
The curving roof soars over the cabin, and is expressed in the timber ceilings inside, which gently roll over-head through the interior. Along the roof edge, rich black Richlite-faced roofline flows playfully over the building
Richlite also surrounds the many floor-to-ceiling windows of this intricate building, complimenting its timber clad structures and simultaneously framing the views to the woods beyond.
