Off Grid One Bedroom Cabin
Curved bands of Western Red Cedar create the distinctive curved cladding flowing over the one bedroom cabin. Daylight filled, the floor to ceiling windows illuminate the central space, and glazed patio doors lead onto the decking; horizontal slot windows in the bedroom and shower room capture the east and west light and the views .
A grid of charcoal grey cladding compliments the timber wave and the interior spruce walls, now turned golden in the sunlight. Five solar panels are integrated into the cabin’s brise soleil and they power the cabins 12v sockets and LEDs. Fittings and finishes used in the Wave include Kast’s concrete basin ; CEA’s beautifully engineered tap; Formica’s VIVIX cladding panels; and Baubuche’s stained beech floor and striated beech bench .
The cabin is well travelled, and has returned to Galloway after being commissioned as a temporary home during a house renovation in Devon. The Wave was originally showcased at Grand Designs Live in London. The modular cabin design has also been configured to provide a timber lined learning space.
