Roundhouse for One
This compact version of our Roundhouse was designed for an on-site carer and sits in the grounds of the owner's house. Clad in Siberian Larch with a sedum roof , it has a spruce lined interior complimented by slate grey finishes. An underfloor heating system has been installed under the engineered oak floor providing background heat, with a DEFRA rated Purefire Curve wood burning stove for winter evenings and extra all year round comfort.
The roundhouse is designed to be filled with daylight. One half of the building has floor to eaves double glazing with 180 degree view of the garden, and a generous circular triple glazed skylight brings light in overhead and a view of the sky night and day.
Unlike our larger Roundhouses , this smaller floor plan is based on concentric circles, with the facilities set around the central space . Its kitchen , shower room and bedspace are set back and around the small living space. A kitchen unit follows the curve of the space and has an undermounted sink; integrated fridge; storage cabinets and drawers; and a pull out surface. The bedspace has a built in bed with generous drawers under and a small wardrobe, and the space can be concealed by a pair of sliding timber doors when not in use. A separate shower room is also home to a washing machine.
Other compact Roundhouse layouts are possible with a concentric floor plan
